Michael, thank you for sharing this post and your continued efforts in bridging the connections between food and African-American traditions. I had never heard of Verta Mae Smart-Grosvenor, but I’m inspired now to learn more about her. There are many today, who are profiting from the culinary contributions of those from African ancestry. But, we hear little about those contributions to the culinary industry. Thanks to you, our stories are being told!
